VAT made easy

Understand how your fulfilment model affects VAT requirements

Depending on the nature of your business, you will be required to register for a VAT number in a European country as per the regulations. Some of the factors that influence your VAT obligations are the fulfilment model and the country of inventory storage.

Amazon FBA Inventory Management

Use the tools in your selling partner account to list products, create shipping plans, send in shipments, track and monitor your shipments, and remove inventory from Amazon fulfilment centres.

Inventory Performance Dashboard

Your Inventory Performance Dashboard displays your Inventory Performance Index (IPI) score, along with key influencing factors. Be sure to check your IPI score regularly—a low score could lead to overage fees and limit your ability to send more inventory.

Manage excess inventory

Optimize your inventory levels by knowing when to mark down or remove your products. Monitor detailed information about storage fees, opportunities to drive sales, and suggestions to help improve returns on your inventory.

Track inventory age

Improve sell-through rates and avoid long-term storage fees. Use Inventory Age tools to understand how much inventory you’re holding, and see how long it’s been in fulfilment centres.

Fix stranded inventory

Keep your listings active by including necessary pricing and condition information and resolving errors. If your inventory is in fulfilment centres without an associated active listing, it’s not available for purchase.

Restock inventory

Keep your best-selling inventory in stock with personalized restock recommendations. You can also adjust for future promotions and seasonal demand patterns. Track your inventory and supplier orders so that you’re prepared to meet product demand.

FAQs

Get answers to frequently asked questions about using Amazon for ecommerce.
What is Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA)?
Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) is a service where Amazon takes care of the storage, packing and mailing of your products, handles customer support and returns. When you register for FBA, you must first pack and ship your products in bulk to one of our logistics centres. FBA also has a special programme for special products that may suit your business, such as FBA Small and Light, Pan-European FBA and Extra Large Items.
How much does FBA cost per unit?
There are different fees depending on which FBA service you choose:
1. Fulfilment charges per unit sold, including packaging, mailing, handling, customer service and returns.
2. Monthly warehouse fees based on the space your warehouse occupies at Amazon's logistics centre.

Amazon's calculation tools like Revenue Calculator, Fee Preview Report/Fee Preview, and Manage FBA Inventory will help you calculate your FBA fees.
How to sell with Amazon FBA?
Create your Amazon seller account and log in to Seller Central. Then, Set up FBA. To get started, you need to have:
  • Company email address or Amazon customer account
  • Debitable credit card (international cards are also accepted)
  • Valid passport or ID card (Identity check protects both sellers and customers)
  • Company registration details (including VAT identification number if possible)
  • A valid phone number
  • A bank account where Amazon can send the money from your sales
Afterwards, be ready to create your product lists, Add products and List products for Delivered by Amazon.

Then, send your products to an Amazon Logistics Centre and follow Packaging Requirements as well as Shipping and Routing Requirements.
What can you sell with Amazon FBA?
What you can sell on Amazon FBA depends on the brand, product and category. Some products are open to all sellers, while others may require a professional seller account. Look at the Category, Product, and Content Restrictions list and Product Restrictions for FBA. To sell branded products that are protected by copyright, patent or trade mark, you must be either the owner or an authorised dealer. To sell refurbished or used products, you must first qualify on Amazon Renewed.
What is “fulfilment”?
The entire process of receiving, storing, picking and then sending orders to customers, including returns or exchanges, is called fulfilment. To execute an order, you can choose to use Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA).
What is the difference between FBA and FBM?
FBA is Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA), and FBM is Fulfilment by Merchant. FBA handles the entire fulfilment process for you, while FBM means that the merchant is responsible for storage, packing, mailing and delivery to customers.
Are all Prime orders fulfilled by Amazon?
No, not all Prime orders can be fulfilled by Amazon.

For devices that do not work well with FBA, such as products that do not sell quickly or whose demand is difficult to predict, there is a Seller Fulfilled Prime or SFP. This is an application available to Amazon Prime members who can send orders directly from their warehouse or storage location.
What is FBA's Managing Excess Inventory?
Amazon's FBA Excess Inventory Management tool helps you monitor products that are in excess and provides information so you can take relevant annual action, and it offers suggestions on how to optimize your inventory levels. It helps you evaluate product demand as well as costs, seller data and price elasticity, identifies issues that may affect product sales, and gives you options to accompany your products.
What is the FBA Sell-Through Rate?
FBA's Sell-Through Rate is the number of units sold and shipped out in the last 90 days divided by the average number of units in stock. The average number of units in the warehouse is obtained by taking a snapshot of the stock levels on the day in question, as well as 30, 60 or 90 days before. Seller Central displays your recommendation to improve your Sell-Through Rate.
What is FBA's Stranded Inventory Percentage?
A product sale can become 'stranded' if it was not created properly from scratch or does not satisfy Amazon's conditions. If this happens then it starts to collect storage fees but is not available for sale because it is not active.

Your performance is measured by the percentage of your FBA inventory that can be purchased on Amazon immediately. This is called the Stranded Inventory Percentage. Kolla din Inventory Performance Dashboard som visar dina IPI-poäng (Index för lagerprestanda Stranded Inventory Percentage).

Another way to measure is the number of 'stranded' units, which shows the total number of units that do not have an active offer. This can be taken care of using Fix Stranded Layer.
What are FBA refill tools?
FBA's refill tool helps you keep track of how many units you have in stock so you can meet your customers' requests by suggesting which products should be refilled, how many should be ordered, and when they should be delivered. This optimization tool allows you to predict when to stock up on products while taking into account your variable costs, as well as your expected income and future needs. The recommendations will help you get the best return on your inventory investment by always having the right amount in stock.
What is the FBA's percentage for excess inventory?
The excess inventory percentage is the percentage of your FBA inventory units that are in surplus or have over a 90-day supply.

Overbought or old inventory negatively affects your Inventory Performance Index (IPI). IPI is a way to measure how well your inventory is doing over time.

Your IPI scores keep track of how you manage your FBA inventory. Your Inventory Performance Dashboard helps you find ways to increase your sales, reduce costs, and measure your performance.
What is the FBA In-Stock Rate?
In-stock rate measures how successfully you maintain popular products in stock. Included are only FBA products that have been sold in the last 60 days. It does not include unsold units or seller-fulfilled products, that is, products for which you handle inventory, packing and delivery.

In Seller Central, this measurement is displayed on the Inventory dashboard and updated daily. It is considered good if you can maintain a 90–100 percent in-stock rate.
What is an FBA merchant?
An Amazon FBA merchant is an ecommerce company that sells products through an Amazon store and is enrolled in the Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) programme.
